Due to expansion of services, an exciting new opportunity has arisen for a dynamic, innovative and forward-thinking full-time Consultant in Trauma & Orthopaedics. A subspecialist interest in hand and wrist surgery is essential.
The post will be located at Torbay Hospital, providing both sub-specialist hand and wrist services as well as general trauma & orthopaedic for an equal part of the role. You will be providing hand surgery expertise and general skeletal trauma services to our population. It would be advantageous for any candidate to have completed both a fellowship in hand and wrist surgery as well as either the British or European diploma.
The post holder will be expected to provide:
- A high quality elective service across the breadth of hand and wrist surgery
- A high quality trauma service, including managing the on call week, trauma meetings, acute trauma operating and virtual and face to face fracture clinics
- Involvement in local and regional MDT
- Innovative working to improve the overall efficiency and financial viability of the service
- Teaching/support to resident doctors, medical students and AHPs
- Support for local/national audit and involvement in quality improvement projects

The successful applicant will be working closely with the hand and wrist surgical team.
