Overview
We are seeking a Compliance Support Specialist to join our dynamic team working for our Hub Amber River East Anglia.
The role purpose is to work with and support the Compliance Team to ensure that the firm complies with all relevant and applicable legislation and regulations, to assist with collation and analysis of MI, and to establish and maintain systems and controls required to ensure that high-quality customer outcomes are achieved.
The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelors Degree in Finance, Economics or a similarly related field, hold or be working towards a Level 4 industry relevant qualification (for example the CII L4 Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning) and have at least three years' experience of working within a UK financial services regulated environment in either a paraplanning, advising or compliance based role.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the collation and provision of timely management data and information to the SMF16 & SMF17 and / or designated Compliance Manager, specifically to include:assisting in the collation of data required for regulatory returns and working with the Compliance Manager in preparing and submitting the regulatory returns and assisting in the collation of MI and KPI data as required for Hub, Board and Central reporting.
- Working with other areas of the business to assist in the maintenance and updating of policies and procedures e.g. compliance and operation teams.
- Working with the paraplanning team as ‘first line of defence’ to help with the maintenance and updating of template documents.
- Assisting with the preparation of cases for external file review, including ensuring that the files adhere to compliance standards, such as suitability, KYC, disclosure, and anti-money laundering (AML) requirements.
- Helping to ensure that all file review data is collated in a timely manner to support internal and external reporting requirements.
- Assisting with investigations into errors and omissions, including root cause analysis and redress calculations.
- Assisting with complaint investigations, including root cause analysis, redress calculations and liaising with PI provider.
Knowledge, Skills & Competencies
- Desirable 3 years + experience across paraplanning, advising and / or compliance roles within a financial advice or wealth management firm.
- Desirable L4 CII Diploma in Financial Planning (or working towards) or similar equivalent industry qualification.
- Desirable experienced in managing multiple priorities.
- Excellent organisational skills and able to adapt to changing priorities with strong time management skills.
- High level of attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Good understanding of the FCA’s rules and guidance affecting financial advice and wealth management firms.
- Good understanding of retail investments, pensions, and protections including suitability considerations. Relevant professional qualifications (e.g. relating to compliance, supervision or financial crime).
- Strong analytical skills.
- Reliable and trustworthy, with a high level of integrity and professionalism.
- Self-motivation, resilience and a clear focus on attention to detail and high-quality output.
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and build strong relationships and networks, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Working autonomously in a fast-paced environment.
- Solution-based approach to compliance matters, demonstrating sound and pragmatic judgment.
- IT literate with good knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
- Support a culture of accountability, quality assurance, and continuous improvement across the Hub.
