On 1 April 2026, NHS National Services Scotland (NSS) and NHS Education for Scotland (NES) became one national organisation, focused on continuity today and a stronger, more connected service for tomorrow.
As part of this transformation, NSS and NES have joined to form a new organisation: Public Services Delivery Scotland (PSD Scotland). This new organisation will play a pivotal role in supporting the renewal and ensuring the long-term sustainability of health and care services across Scotland.
About the Organisation:
PSD Scotland unites expertise from NES and NSS in a way that will allow us to accelerate national programmes to support the NHS to deliver better care, now and in the future.
We support staff with education and training, provide the tools and data that improve services, and run vital national functions such as procurement, logistics and blood, tissue and cell services.
The Post:
The Quality Manager will primarily be responsible for leading a Quality team giving expert advice and operational support on Quality and Regulatory requirements whilst coordinating aspects of the Quality Management System supporting the Manufacturing environment. The role requires a hands-on approach and has a broad area of Quality responsibility encompassing oversight of blood component manufacture, donation testing, QC laboratory, logistics, information systems and facility. Communication across all levels of the organization is key to success in this role.
The Candidate:
Applications are invited from Quality Assurance (QA) professionals who have significant experience of the operation of an effective Quality Management System in a Blood Establishment or pharmaceutical environment. Educated to at least Honours Degree level holding a post graduate professional qualification e.g. MSc. Demonstrable experience of risk management, change management, Incident management, Corrective and Preventative Action planning, root cause analysis and Quality auditing are essential requirements for this role.
The post holder will report directly to the QA Theme manager for Manufacturing supporting them in the delivery of SNBTS operational and strategic plans.
Location and Working Pattern:
The Jack Copland Centre, Edinburgh
The work pattern is Monday to Friday, 36 hours per week, with some hybrid working acceptable according to business needs.
Currently there is no routine requirement for “out of hours” or shift working for this post. However, the flexibility to support out of hours unexpected events is required from time to time.
It is a condition of this employment that you must live and remain a resident within the UK and have entitlement to work in the UK for the post in which you will be employed.
