Software Developer (Part-Time to Full-Time Opportunity)
We are seeking a dynamic and passionate Software Developer to join our innovative technology team. This is an exciting opportunity for a talented developer looking to play a key role in designing, developing, and maintaining cutting-edge software solutions that drive our business forward.
Initially, this position will be part-time and office-based in Northwich, providing the opportunity to work closely with our team, gain a thorough understanding of our products, and contribute to ongoing development projects. As the role and business requirements grow, our intention is to increase the position to full-time hours. There may also be the opportunity for a hybrid working arrangement in the future, making it essential that applicants are located within reasonable driving distance of Northwich.
Key Responsibilities;
* Maintain and amend existing JavaScript code
* Develop small scripts and functions to process, transform and validate data
* Integrate third-party APIs and services
* Work with REST APIs, including GET and POST requests
* Work with JSON data and manipulate API responses
* Create and troubleshoot webhooks
* Investigate API errors and integration failures
* Read and understand third-party API documentation
* Troubleshoot issues across multiple connected systems
* Make amendments to existing integrations and automation workflows
* Test changes and identify potential issues before they affect customers
* Assist with payment, booking, messaging and other system integrations
* Provide technical support and investigate issues when required
* Document changes and solutions where appropriate
Essential Skills
* Strong working knowledge of JavaScript
* Good understanding of REST APIs
* Strong understanding of JSON
* Experience working with webhooks
* Experience integrating third-party APIs and services
* Understanding of HTTP requests, headers, parameters and authentication
* Good understanding of HTTP status/error codes, including 400, 401, 403, 404, 429 and 500 errors
* Strong debugging and problem-solving skills
* Ability to understand and modify existing code written by another developer
* Comfortable working with unfamiliar APIs and technical documentation
* Able to investigate problems independently and work towards a solution
* Good attention to detail
Desirable Experience
Experience with any of the following would be advantageous:
* WhatsApp Cloud API / Meta APIs
* Stripe and payment APIs
* Google Maps APIs, including Places, Geocoding and Routes
* Booking, taxi, transport or dispatch APIs
* Automation and low-code platforms
* Customer messaging platforms and chatbot integrations
* API authentication methods such as API keys, Bearer tokens and OAuth
* Date/time and timezone handling in JavaScript
