Job Title: Partnerships Editor
Contract: 2 days per week on a 12 month fixed term contract
Salary: £62,919 pro-rated
Location: London/Hybrid

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Partnerships Editor to join the BMJ Events and Partnerships team, to support the delivery of funded editorial projects across BMJ’s portfolio of journals.
Responsibilities

Commissioning, assessment, managing peer-review, providing feedback and editing manuscripts that form part of funded editorial collections.

Work with the publishing and editorial production teams to move content smoothly through the editorial process

Approving roundtable topics, curating discussion points and identifying participants.

Hosting roundtable discussion, reviewing and approving output reports.

Working with the partnerships team to approve proposals for new projects, incorporating editorial collections, roundtable discussions, webinars etc

Leading stakeholder meetings with internal and external teams related to partnerships projects.

Act as the editorial point person with external partners for projects, and work with stakeholders to deliver projects to agreed deadlines.

Maintain and ensure the integrity of the review process and publishing ethics, providing guidance to authors, reviewers and editors as appropriate

Be an ambassador for the partnerships team, taking part in external outreach, conferences and meetings to promote the BMJ’s work and develop relationships

Contribute to the development of the policies and processes of the partnerships editorial team as well as new editorial products.

Oversee the work of freelance editors and mentor internal editorial staff in training.
Experience (essential)
-
Clinical and/or research experience to inform editorial decision-making and ensure relevance of articles.

Experience in critical appraisal of evidence to inform decision-making.

Experience in writing for a clinical audience

Experience of peer review process in publishing.

Experience designing content for a live audience e.g. events and webinars
Experience (desirable)

Editorial experience on a medical journal including commissioning, editing, and writing content.

Experience of writing and editing content for healthcare professionals.

Experience of working in a matrix, hybrid environment.

Experience of working with ScholarOne (or other online content management systems).

Experience of working with international editorial teams.
Qualification (essential)

Degree in Medicine or Bachelor of Science
