Summary of Role
The key purpose of the role is to ensure that public and private spaces are kept clean and tidy, free of infection control / prevention issues, and done in a manner that upkeeps resident dignity and privacy as much as possible. This involves cleaning communal spaces and resident areas, such as bedrooms and en suites, as well as areas like office spaces, communal bathrooms, clinics, etc.
The role involves working flexibly over a 7 day period, and will some involve evening and weekend work, though this will be shared out fairly and evenly across the staff team on an ongoing basis.
Main Responsibilities
- Clean, mop, vacuum, dust and tidy resident bedrooms, en suites, bathrooms, communal areas and office spaces on a regular basis;
- Periodically performing deep-cleans on the above areas when directed;
- Complete daily logs of areas cleaned and jobs completed;
- Be aware of COSHH principles, and adhere to the instructions given as best practice to ensure chemicals and cleaning products are used and stored appropriately. Training is given on this;
- Interact with residents whilst performing cleaning duties to know their patterns and routines, as well as how they like their bedrooms to be cleaned – being respectful to them at all times and upholding their dignity;
- Be an effective team member, demonstrating flexibility and resourcefulness, and co-operate with colleagues and other people in the best interest of people we support.

Personal Characteristics - Requirements:
- Skilled at all domestic cleaning duties;
- Passionate about making a difference in the life of those we look after;
- Clear written and verbal communication style;
- Basic IT skills and numerical ability;
- To be willing to undertake required training, sometimes outside normal working hours;
- To be available for flexible working patterns including evenings and weekends.
Personal Characteristics - Preferable:
- Previous experience of working as a domestic assistant in a care setting is preferred but not essential.
