About Almond Eyecare
Almond Eyecare is an independent domiciliary optician providing professional eye examinations and optical care to patients who are unable to visit a high street optician due to mobility or health reasons.
We work closely with care homes, independent living communities, sheltered housing schemes and patients in their own homes, delivering exceptional clinical care with compassion and professionalism.
We are looking for a motivated, confident and personable Optical Assistant & Community Outreach Representative to help grow our presence across London, Hertfordshire and Essex.
The Role
This is a varied, field-based position combining optical dispensing support with community engagement and business development. You will spend your time visiting care homes, independent living schemes, sheltered housing, community groups and local neighbourhoods to build relationships, promote Almond Eyecare's services and help eligible patients access professional domiciliary eye care.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain strong relationships with care home managers, scheme managers and community organisations.
- Visit care homes, independent living and sheltered housing schemes to introduce Almond Eyecare's services.
- Arrange and coordinate eye examination clinics.
- Carry out community outreach and local marketing activities.
- Visit residential areas to introduce our services to eligible patients in a professional, respectful and ethical manner.
- Promote NHS and private domiciliary eye care services.
- Assist patients with selecting spectacles following their eye examination.
- Deliver and fit spectacles when required.
- Book appointments and maintain accurate patient records.
- Represent Almond Eyecare professionally at all times.
- Work closely with the clinical team to ensure an exceptional patient experience.
Essential Requirements
- Full UK driving licence.
- Own reliable vehicle.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Friendly, confident and professional manner.
- Ability to work independently and manage your own diary.
- Good organisational and administrative skills.
- Willingness to travel across London, Hertfordshire and Essex.
Desirable Experience
- Optical Assistant experience.
- Previous experience in healthcare, care homes or domiciliary services.
- Community outreach, business development or account management experience.
- Sales or customer-facing experience.
- Knowledge of NHS optical services is advantageous.

Working Hours
- Monday to Friday.
- 8:30am – 5:30pm (flexibility may be required).
- No regular weekend work.
