About the role
We’re looking for an experienced Pricing and Promotions Manager to own the end-to-end pricing and promotional strategy across the Adams Foodservice range — protecting and improving gross margin while keeping our proposition sharp and competitive in the market. You will turn sales, cost and market data into clear commercial decisions, and make sure those decisions are executed accurately across our systems, price lists and customer-facing activity.
Pricing and promotional activity sits at the heart of how we compete. This is a highly visible role with direct exposure to the Managing Director and the senior commercial team.
About Adams Foodservice and the Bestway Group
Adams Foodservice is one of the UK’s leading independent foodservice wholesalers, supplying caterers, restaurants, takeaways and hospitality operators with a full range of frozen, chilled, ambient and non-food products. Operating from our Bradford base as part of the Bestway Group, we combine national buying strength with the responsiveness and service standards of an independent business.
Bestway Group is a diversified multinational family owned business with annualised turnover in excess of £4.5 billion. Starting off as a chain of retail convenience stores, the Group has grown to become a diversified multinational business with interests across the wholesale, pharmacy, real estate, cement and banking sectors. The Group is also the largest overseas investor in Pakistan.
Responsibilities:
- Pricing strategy — Own the pricing architecture across all product categories and customer groups, including cost-price changes, price banding, customer-specific pricing and contract pricing.
- Promotional planning — Plan, build, cost and evaluate the promotional calendar, working with buying, suppliers and the catering team to ensure activity is commercially sound and delivers incremental volume.
- Margin management — Monitor gross margin at product, category, customer and branch level; identify erosion early, investigate root causes and recommend corrective action.
- Analysis & reporting — Produce clear, accurate analysis of pricing performance, promotional ROI, supplier funding and competitor positioning to support commercial decision-making.
- Supplier & buying support — Work with buyers to manage supplier cost increases, negotiate promotional support and ensure retrospective rebates and funding are captured and reconciled.
- Systems & data integrity — Ensure price files, promotional mechanics and product data are maintained accurately in the ERP and trading systems, with robust controls and audit trails.
- Market awareness — Track competitor pricing and market movements, providing regular intelligence to the Managing Director and Head of Catering.
- Commercial partnering — Partner with the sales and telesales teams to communicate pricing changes and promotions clearly, and to support key customer negotiations.
- Continuous improvement — Improve pricing and promotional processes, reporting templates and controls, reducing manual effort and increasing speed of decision-making.
The Ideal Candidate:
- Proven experience in a pricing and/or promotions role — we are looking for someone who has done this job before and can step in with minimal ramp-up.
- Foodservice, wholesale, grocery or FMCG background, with a working understanding of margin structures, cost price changes, supplier rebates and promotional funding.
- Strong analytical capability — comfortable interrogating large data sets and translating them into clear commercial recommendations.
- Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, SUMIFS/INDEX-MATCH and modelling of pricing and promotional scenarios.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail, with the discipline to manage complex price files without error.
- Confident communicator able to present findings and recommendations credibly to senior stakeholders and to challenge where appropriate.
- Commercially minded, self-motivated and comfortable working at pace in an owner-managed, fast-moving business.
Benefits:
