We are a friendly residential care provider based on the seafront in Clacton-on-Sea, looking for an enthusiastic, caring and reliable Domestic Assistant / Activities Coordinator to join our friendly team.
This position is initially temporary to cover a period of long-term sickness, with the possibility of becoming a long-term or permanent position for the right candidate.
The role will involve a combination of domestic duties and supporting our service users with meaningful activities, helping to maintain a clean, comfortable and welcoming environment while promoting independence, dignity and wellbeing.
Domestic Assistant Duties
- Maintain a clean, safe and hygienic environment for service users
- Clean bedrooms and communal areas
- Make and change beds as required
- Assist with the collection and disposal of soiled linen and continence products
- Assist with laundry duties
- Assist with the general care and upkeep of the building
- Support service users with maintaining the domestic hygiene of their rooms where appropriate
- Report accidents, incidents and concerns to the senior member of staff
- Report complaints promptly to the senior member of staff in charge
Activities Coordinator Duties
Activities will generally take place between 09:30 and 12:30 and will include:
- Organising and delivering a variety of activities suitable for our service users
- Encouraging participation in social, recreational and meaningful activities
- Supporting service users to maintain their independence and dignity
- Helping service users to live their chosen lifestyle
- Encouraging social interaction and companionship
- Adapting activities to suit individual needs, interests and abilities
- Supporting special events, celebrations and group activities
- Working alongside the care team to promote the wellbeing and enjoyment of our service users
About You
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- Previous domestic/cleaning experience, preferably within residential care
- Experience or an interest in organising activities for older people
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A friendly, caring and patient approach
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Good attention to detail
- The ability to work under pressure and multitask
- Good organisational and timekeeping skills
- A positive and enthusiastic attitude
Hours
From 15 hours per week, with shifts arranged around the needs of the service.
Domestic shifts are generally 08:00–14:00, while activities are generally delivered between 09:30–12:30.
The role will include working every other weekend as part of the rota.
