Apprentice Vehicle Technician

Job type: Full-time Apprenticeship
SDM Group is looking for an enthusiastic Apprentice Vehicle Technician to join our experienced workshop team in Falkirk.
This is an excellent opportunity to begin a career in the motor industry with an established local dealer group that has served motorists for more than 60 years. You will receive practical workshop experience, structured training and support while working towards a recognised Motor Vehicle Maintenance and Repair qualification.
The role
Working alongside our qualified technicians, you will learn how to inspect, maintain and repair a wide range of vehicles safely and efficiently.
Your duties will include:
- Assisting with routine servicing and vehicle maintenance
- Learning how to diagnose mechanical and electrical faults
- Carrying out vehicle health checks under supervision
- Assisting with brake, tyre, suspension and exhaust repairs
- Using modern workshop tools and diagnostic equipment
- Keeping work areas clean, organised and safe
- Following manufacturer procedures and health and safety requirements
- Completing college work and apprenticeship assessments
- Providing a high standard of care for every customer’s car
About you
We are looking for someone who:
- Has a genuine interest in cars and automotive technology
- Is keen to learn and develop practical skills
- Is reliable, punctual and willing to work as part of a team
- Takes pride in completing work carefully and correctly
- Has good communication and problem-solving skills
- Understands the importance of workplace safety
- Is willing to attend college and complete all apprenticeship coursework
Previous workshop experience is not essential. A school, college or personal background involving mechanics, engineering or practical subjects would be helpful.
A UK driving licence is desirable but not essential at the beginning of the apprenticeship.
