Are you someone who loves getting creative? Perhaps you've spent years painting, crafting, sketching or making - or you've taught classes, run workshops, or just always been the person everyone asks for creative advice. Would you feel at home guiding a group of hobbyists through a fun, relaxed craft session, all from your own home? If so, this may be the perfect role for you.
Why HobbyHour exists:
Forget expensive classes and long-term commitments. At HobbyHour, we believe everyone should be able to try something new - without the barriers that usually get in the way.HobbyHour is a live, online hobby platform designed to bring a bit more happiness into people's weeks. We swap intimidating instructions and expensive equipment lists for approachable, feel-good sessions that leave people proud of what they've done - even if it's their very first go.
Our sessions bring people out of their routines and into a warm, welcoming community built around curiosity and discovery - and this is just the beginning.
Who we're looking for:
We're looking for the right person to host our Arts & Crafts sessions and bring them to life. We're not looking for gallery-ready artists. We're looking for a brilliant creative communicator who can make people feel relaxed, capable and inspired.
You'll be someone who is:
- Warm, encouraging and outgoing
- Comfortable leading a group through a hands-on activity, step by step
- Confident using video-call technology and troubleshooting on the fly
- Genuinely passionate about arts, crafts or making things
- Able to design your own simple, engaging session plans
You might have a background in:
- Painting, drawing, illustration or mixed media
- Craft-making, pottery, upcycling or DIY
- Art teaching, workshops or community classes
- Any creative hobby you've taught yourself and want to share
You don't need experience across every background listed above - one or two is plenty, but of course, it’s a bonus if you have more. Passion always trumps formal training: you don't need a fine art degree to be one of our Hosts. If you love working with your hands and love sharing that with others, you'll fit right in.
What you'll be doing:
As a HobbyHour Arts & Crafts Host, you'll:
- Host live, online sessions for groups of hobbyists
- Design your own content and session plans for each class
- Create a relaxed, judgement-free space where everyone feels able to have a go
- Keep your energy up and your teaching clear, even without constant live feedback
- Be a reliable, familiar face your hobbyists look forward to seeing each week
- Help shape the culture and content of HobbyHour's Arts & Crafts community as it grows
What's on offer:
- Freelance contract role
- £40 per hour of hosting.
- You would be responsible for your own tax and National Insurance as a self-employed individual and for designing your own content (and session plans) to deliver to our hobbyists.
- Flexible scheduling, Monday to Sunday, based on your availability
- Ongoing sessions for up to 52 weeks of the year - we're looking for a long-term commitment
- Full support provided
- The chance to be part of something genuinely special from the early days
