Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated HGV/LGV Technician to join our dynamic maintenance team. This full-time, on-site HGV and LGV Technician role is based in the Greater Glasgow Area, on a 4-day shift, Monday - Thursday, with the following week Tuesday - Friday. In this vital role, you will be responsible for inspecting, repairing, and maintaining heavy goods vehicle (HGV) and large goods vehicle (LGV) fleets to ensure optimal performance, safety, and compliance. Your expertise will help keep our operations running smoothly by diagnosing issues accurately and executing repairs efficiently. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with a variety of heavy machinery and equipment, contributing to the safety and reliability of our fleet.
Duties
- Conduct comprehensive inspections of HGV/LGV vehicles, including brakes, engines, transmissions, and electrical systems
- Perform repairs and maintenance using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and fabrication techniques
- Interpret schematics and technical manuals to troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues effectively
- Carry out welding, soldering, and fabrication tasks to repair or modify vehicle components
- Diagnose electrical problems using specialized testing equipment and restore systems to optimal working condition
- Assemble new parts or components as needed, ensuring proper fit and function according to technical specifications
- Maintain detailed records of all repairs, inspections, and maintenance activities for compliance and tracking purposes
Experience
- Proven experience working as an HGV or LGV technician or in a similar heavy or light vehicle maintenance role
- Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience in equipment repair and assembly
- Skilled in welding, soldering, fabrication, and interpreting schematics for electrical systems
- Experience using hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and safety protocols in a workshop environment
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while adhering to health and safety standards
- Excellent customer service skills with a proactive approach to problem-solving in fast-paced settings
