Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Senior Care Worker to provide high-quality care and support to elderly and vulnerable individuals within a care home or home care setting. The ideal candidate will have experience in senior care, dementia care, and medication administration, with a strong commitment to enhancing residents' quality of life. Duties
- Deliver personalised care plans tailored to each resident’s needs, including assistance with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, and mobility.
- Administer medication accurately following prescribed schedules and medical terminology guidelines.
- Support residents with dementia or Alzheimer's care by employing behaviour management techniques and specialised approaches.
- Assist with meal preparation, ensuring nutritional requirements are met and dietary restrictions observed.
- Provide emotional support and companionship to residents, fostering a caring and respectful environment.
- Maintain accurate documentation of care provided, including case management records and incident reports.
- Support with light housekeeping duties to ensure a clean and safe environment.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, families, and team members to coordinate comprehensive patient care.
- Drive residents when necessary for appointments or outings, ensuring safety at all times.
- Participate in training sessions such as first aid courses and professional development activities to enhance caregiving skills.
Requirements
- Proven experience in nursing home or care home environments, particularly in Alzheimer’s or dementia care.
- Relevant qualifications such as first aid certification and knowledge of medical terminology.
- Experience with medication administration and developing or following care plans.
- Strong understanding of behaviour management strategies for elderly residents with cognitive impairments.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting when required, maintaining safety standards for both staff and residents.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to work effectively within a team.
- Valid driving licence is desirable for roles involving patient transportation.
