Simeon Care for the Elderly is a Scottish Charity (SC012239) providing care to 23 older people. Since 1984, we have supported older people to live an active, meaningful, and purposeful life in a community of care. Simeon offers a small home and a care model that can adapt to meet the physical, social, mental, and spiritual needs of our residents.
We aspire to be a high-quality nursing care home where residents and their families have a sense of security knowing that Simeon will be their home for the rest of their life due to the provision of palliative and end of life care. We work together to create a loving community of care, and help make the last years of life rich, joyful, and rewarding.
Responsibilities
- To assist the residents in all areas of their daily personal care and hygiene needs according to their care plans.
- To provide care throughout the night checking residents at regular intervals according to their care plan.
- Respond promptly to calls for assistance during the night while respecting the privacy and dignity of residents.
- Engage in conversations to help maintain residents’ sense of identity, upholding dignity at all times.
- Make daily computer based entries in the care plans and report observations about the health and well-being of individual residents to the appropriate people.
- Administer prescribed medication and maintain records.
- To assist in the delivery of therapeutic care treatments under the supervision of qualified staff.
- Care for residents during illness and assist in end-of-life care under the supervision of qualified staff.
- Basic kitchen and laundry duties.
- Carry out all duties in accordance with relevant legislation, policies and procedures and national care standards and relevant codes of practice.
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of experience in elderly care .
- Strong understanding of patient care principles and practices.
- Strong communication skills and proficiency in English are essential.
- Compassionate nature and ability to remain calm in a crisis.
- Knowledge of dementia care practices is highly desirable.
As the role involves working in an environment with vulnerable people a PVG certificate will be required. If you are not a member of the PVG (Protection of Vulnerable Groups) scheme, you will be asked to apply for membership before you can work with us.
Pay: £15.10 per hour
