Position Overview
We are seeking a reliable Part-Time Kitchen Assistant/Pot Wash Support to join our busy kitchen team. Candidates must be available weekdays during the day and evenings. This role is ideal for someone with some basic food prep experience or pot wash experience who enjoys a fast-paced environment and takes pride in maintaining high standards. Although full training will be given, so enthusiasm and willingness to learn is important.
Candidates must be available during weekdays Wed-Fri during the day (between 11.30am and 8pm) as well as weekends during day and evening.

Pay: £8.75-£12.71 dependent on age and experience

The Role
You’ll start out handling the basics, with plenty of opportunities to learn and evolve. It’s a hands-on kitchen job, which means you’ll gain experience in every corner of the kitchen.
- Supporting the kitchen with washing dishes to prepping ingredients, you’ll also provide vital assistance to our chefs post and pre service. You’ll make sure they have everything on hand to deliver the food that keeps our customers coming back for more. Kitchen assistants are the helping hands who are always ready to step in.
- Maintaining cleanliness and hygiene: One of the key responsibilities of a kitchen assistant is to keep everything squeaky clean. This includes cleaning surfaces and ensuring the kitchen is up to health and safety standards.
- Keeping stocked up: As anyone who’s worked in a kitchen is all too aware, not having key supplies to hand can be chaotic. Kitchen assistants keep everything neatly stored, well-stocked, and ready for action, making sure we never run low on the essentials during service and making note of things we run out of.
- Assisting in food prep: From chopping veg to helping to plate basic desserts, you’ll help with basic food prep and support the team in getting meals sent out piping hot and in plenty of time.
Duties & Responsibilities
Food preparation
Assist chefs in basic food preparation tasks, such as chopping vegetables, portioning ingredients, and assembling dishes where appropriate, following recipes as needed and guidelines provided by the culinary team.
Ingredient handling
Receive, inspect, and store food deliveries properly, ensuring that ingredients are stored at the correct temperature and rotated to maintain freshness and prevent waste. Also ensure all foods with allergens present are correctly labelled and stored.
Equipment maintenance
Support pot wash as needed and maintain kitchen equipment, utensils, and workstations regularly, following sanitation and safety procedures to ensure a clean and hygienic working environment.
Kitchen organisation
Keep the kitchen organized with essential supplies, such as ingredients, utensils, and cleaning materials, to facilitate efficient food preparation and service. Check inventories, track food wastage and make sure the kitchen meets all health and safety requirements.
Assistance during service
Support chefs during service hours by fetching and carrying items, replenishing ingredients and supplies, and performing other tasks as directed to ensure the smooth flow of kitchen operations. Keep kitchen areas clean and tidy, adhering strictly to food hygiene standards and allergen protocols.
Cleaning Preparation
Emptying rubbish bins, recycling waste, collecting used tea towels and chef whites/aprons/uniforms and cleaning floors or other surfaces.
