Role Overview
To provide a warm, knowledgeable and professional customer experience while helping maintain the high standards, presentation and smooth day-to-day running of Uqs. The role combines customer service, sales, stock control, merchandising, shop-floor operations and social media support.
Customer Service & Sales
- Welcome and assist customers confidently, professionally and respectfully, communicating comfortably with people from all backgrounds.
- Understand each customer's needs, style, occasion and budget, and offer helpful, honest opinions that make them feel confident in their clothing choices.
- Build positive relationships with regular customers and provide a consistently high standard of customer service.
- Use strong product knowledge, including fabrics, sizing, prices, styling, ready-to-wear and custom-order options.
- Upsell and cross-sell appropriately by suggesting suitable coordinating pieces, hijabs, accessories or alternatives without pressuring the customer.
- Handle customer questions and problems calmly and find practical solutions.
Stock Management & Replenishment
- Monitor stock levels and recognise when products need replenishing or reordering.
- Replenish the shop floor promptly and keep stock organised so products are easy to locate.
- Assist with deliveries, stock checks and inventory control, checking quantities and product details carefully.
- Create and print barcodes, price and label products accurately, and ensure stock information is correctly entered on the system.
- Maintain regular product and fixture spacing so displays remain neat, balanced and easy to shop.
Shop Floor, Merchandising & Daily Operations
- Create attractive, on-brand product displays and keep clothing, hijabs and accessories presented to Uqs standards.
- Keep the shop clean, organised and prepared throughout the day, including routine cleaning and tidying.
- Complete opening and closing security and safety checks carefully.
- Work confidently with the till and store systems, using good IT skills and attention to detail.
- Manage time effectively, multitask and remain calm and efficient in a fast-paced environment, particularly during busy periods such as Eid.
- Work well as part of the team and proactively complete required tasks.
Social Media & Content Support
- Help capture clear, attractive photos and short videos of new arrivals, displays and products for Uqs social media.
- Assist with Instagram Stories, Reels and other simple social content when requested by management. Help prepare garments, mannequins and displays so products are presented neatly and consistently in content.
- Suggest simple content ideas based on new stock, seasonal trends and frequently asked customer questions.
- Ensure product details shown or mentioned in content - including colour, fabric, size, price and whether an item is ready-to-wear or custom order - are accurate.
- Follow Uqs branding, tone and presentation standards; content should only be posted publicly with appropriate approval.
During Quieter Periods
Quiet periods should be used proactively. Tasks may include reorganising rails and shelves, steaming garments, checking stock, tidying displays, preparing packaging, checking price labels, cleaning mirrors and fitting areas, organising accessories, familiarising yourself with new products, preparing products for photography, capturing approved social media content and completing other reasonable store tasks set by management. Staff should not wait to be given a task when the store is quiet; they are expected to identify appropriate tasks from the daily store checklist and remain productive throughout their shift.
What We're Looking For
Someone who is friendly, reliable, trustworthy and proactive, with a genuine interest in fashion, customer service and social media. You should have good attention to detail, take pride in presentation and be comfortable approaching and assisting customers. Previous retail, fashion or social media experience is helpful, but not essential for the right person.
Desirable Additional Skills
Basic sewing or garment-repair skills would be an advantage, but are not essential. This may include simple tasks such as reattaching a button, securing a loose embellishment, replacing a missing stone or bead, or carrying out other minor garment fixes when appropriate.
The Uqs Standard
Every customer should feel welcomed, comfortable and valued, whether they are browsing or buying. All customer interactions, store presentation and content should reflect the Uqs standard.
Modest. Elegant. Timeless.
Let your clothes reflect your image, style & personality.
