Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and hardworking General Farm Worker to join our small farm team. This role involves supporting various farm activities to ensure the smooth operation of our farm, including animal care, . The ideal candidate will be physically fit, adaptable, and eager to learn about sustainable livestock practices. Previous experience in animal care is advantageous but not essential, as training will be provided.
Pay is based over a 39 hour working week breaks are unpaid, enhanced rates will be paid for weekend working with an expectation to work 1 in 3 weekends
Duties
- Caring for farm animals, including feeding, cleaning enclosures, and monitoring health
- Conducting maintenance tasks such as fence repairs, equipment lubrication, and general farm upkeep
- Using hand tools for various tasks such as pruning, planting, and minor repairs
- Assisting with heavy lifting of supplies or produce to facilitate farm operations
- Applying basic maths skills for measurements and record keeping related to livestock management
- Experience
- Previous experience in animal care especially pigs, is preferred but not mandatory; training will be provided for all necessary skills
- Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and general maintenance tasks is advantageous
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently is essential
- Basic understanding of animal husbandry practices is beneficial
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to follow safety procedures are important for success in this role
