Key Responsibilities
- Fabricate heavy steel components using MIG, MAG, FCAW, and/or MMA welding processes.
- Read and interpret detailed engineering drawings, schematics, and welding symbols.
- Carry out precise cutting, drilling, grinding, burning, and shaping of heavy materials.
- Set up and operate fabrication machinery such as press brakes, bandsaws, guillotines, and overhead cranes.
- Weld components to meet required standards, ensuring structural integrity and dimensional accuracy.
- Conduct quality checks on completed work, identifying and correcting defects where needed.
- Work with heavy plate, beams, box section, and structural components.
- Safely operate lifting equipment and handle large, heavy parts.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised working area in accordance with company policies and H&S regulations.
- Adhere to all welding procedures, fabrication methods, and quality standards.
- Collaborate with colleagues to meet production deadlines and resolve fabrication issues.
Skills & Experience Required
- Proven experience in heavy steel fabrication and welding (MIG/MAG essential).
- Strong ability to read and interpret complex technical and fabrication drawings.
- Skilled in welding thick plate and structural steelwork.
- Comfortable working with large, heavy components and using lifting equipment.
- Competent in grinding, cutting, and metal preparation techniques.
- Ability to work accurately with minimal supervision.
- Strong understanding of health and safety within a fabrication environment.
- Level 3 Fabrication or welding qualifications (NVQ, City & Guilds, or equivalent) with proven time served.

Desirable
- Coded welding qualifications.
- Highest starting salary rate of £17.50 per hour will apply to certified coded welders (appropriate standard - EN ISO 9606-1:2017). Certification must be in date.
- Experience working in an engineering/manufacturing environment.
- Forklift or overhead crane licence.
Pay: £16.16-£17.50 per hour
