Kitchen Assistant (School Kitchen)
Location: Chapeltown, Sheffield S35
Hours: Monday to Friday, 11:15am to 1:30pm
Contract: Term-time only
Pay: £13.45 per hour
We are looking for a reliable and hardworking Kitchen Assistant to join our friendly school kitchen team in Chapeltown.
This is a term-time only role, ideal for someone who enjoys working in a busy environment and takes pride in keeping things organised, clean and running smoothly.
Main duties include:
- Assisting with food preparation
- Serving lunches to pupils and staff
- Pot washing and maintaining kitchen cleanliness
- Cleaning kitchen equipment and work areas
- Supporting the Head Cook and wider kitchen team with day-to-day tasks
- Following food hygiene and health & safety procedures
About you:
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced kitchen environment
- Happy carrying out practical, hands-on tasks throughout the shift
- Able to spend periods standing, moving and carrying out routine kitchen duties
- Reliable, punctual and able to work well as part of a team
- Previous kitchen, catering or school experience is helpful but not essential
Safeguarding and pre-employment checks
As this role is based within a school, successful applicants will be required to complete an Enhanced DBS check with Child Workforce clearance and satisfy pre-employment safeguarding checks. Employment is subject to receiving satisfactory clearances and being eligible to work within an educational setting.
