About the role
Affordable Waste Services Ltd is growing, and we're looking for a hard-working, reliable and motivated Waste Collector / Demolition Operative to join our team.
This is a varied, hands-on role working across Plymouth and the surrounding areas. No two days are the same, and you'll be involved in everything from waste collections and house clearances to demolition, rip-outs and site clearances.
We are looking for someone who isn't afraid of hard work, takes pride in what they do and can represent our company professionally when working with customers, builders and contractors.
Key responsibilities
Your duties will include:
- Domestic and commercial waste collections
- House clearances
- Garden clearances
- Demolition and dismantling work
- Soft and hard strip / rip-out work
- Driving company tipper trucks and vans
- Loading and unloading vehicles
- Sorting waste and recyclable materials
- Site clearances and general labouring
- Working on construction and demolition sites
- Working directly with domestic customers, builders and contractors
- Following company health and safety procedures
- Keeping company vehicles, tools and work areas clean and tidy
About you
We're looking for someone who:
- Holds a full UK driving licence
- Is physically fit and comfortable with manual work
- Is reliable, punctual and hardworking
- Has a positive attitude and strong work ethic
- Can work independently and as part of a team
- Is confident and polite when dealing with customers
- Understands the importance of health and safety
- Takes pride in their work
- Is willing to learn new skills
- Isn't afraid to get stuck in and get their hands dirty
Previous experience in waste collection, demolition, construction, removals, groundworks or general labouring would be an advantage.
However, experience isn't everything. The right attitude, reliability and willingness to work hard are just as important.

Working location
The role will involve travelling to different customer and work sites across Plymouth and the surrounding areas.
