New Beginnings – Improving Lives CIC (NBIL CIC) is a grassroots community organisation dedicated to supporting individuals and families experiencing financial hardship, poor health, social isolation and other complex challenges.
We deliver a range of community services including a Community Store, Foodbank, Mobile Pantry, wellbeing groups, practical support, signposting and community outreach. As a small organisation, our staff work across multiple projects and no two days are the same.
We are looking for a motivated, organised and compassionate individual who enjoys working with people and wants to make a genuine difference within their community.
Purpose of the Role
To support the efficient day-to-day running of the organisation by providing high-quality administrative, customer service and operational support across all community projects.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing Community Store memberships, supporting service users, undertaking administration, assisting with project delivery and ensuring a welcoming, professional environment for everyone accessing our services.
Key Responsibilities Community Store Memberships
- Process new Community Store membership applications.
- Verify eligibility and supporting documentation where required.
- Produce and issue membership cards.
- Maintain accurate electronic and paper membership records.
- Respond to membership enquiries by telephone, email and in person.
- Update customer records and remove inactive memberships in line with organisational procedures.
- Ensure compliance with GDPR and confidentiality requirements.
- Produce reports relating to membership activity when required.
Administration
- Provide general administrative support across the organisation.
- Answer telephone and email enquiries professionally.
- Welcome visitors to the organisation.
- Maintain accurate records using Microsoft Office and internal databases.
- File documents securely and accurately.
- Assist with data entry, monitoring information and project reporting.
- Support the completion of monitoring returns for funders where required.
- Order office supplies and maintain administrative systems.
Community Support
- Provide a friendly and welcoming service to all visitors.
- Support individuals accessing community services.
- Signpost people to appropriate internal and external support services.
- Assist with completing basic forms where appropriate.
- Maintain professional boundaries while treating everyone with dignity and respect.
- Support vulnerable adults and families in accordance with safeguarding procedures.
Operational Support
- Assist with the day-to-day running of the Community Store.
- Help prepare food and stock for distribution.
- Support stock rotation and stock management.
- Assist with deliveries where required.
- Help maintain clean, safe and organised working environments.
- Assist with setting up and clearing away activities and events.
Community Projects
Support the delivery of projects including:
- Community Store
- Foodbank
- Mobile Pantry
- Wellbeing groups
- Community events
- Seasonal projects
- Any future projects developed by the organisation
Partnership Working
- Build positive relationships with partner organisations.
- Work collaboratively with volunteers and colleagues.
- Represent the organisation professionally at all times.
- Promote the organisation positively within the community.
Compliance
- Comply with all organisational policies and procedures.
- Follow safeguarding policies at all times.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Follow Health and Safety requirements.
- Ensure GDPR compliance.
- Undertake mandatory training as required.
Pay: £13.45 per hour
