Position: Operations Manager

Line Reporting Manager: Farnborough Depot Manager
Shift: Monday - Friday 07:00am - 17:00pm (1Hour Unpaid Lunch) 50hour contracted week.
Salary: £39,000 Annually

Roles and Responsibilities:
- Main Duties – Principal Responsibilities
- Lead and develop drainage operations teams, ensuring performance, competency, staffing and training requirements are met.
- Manage staff performance, development and employee issues, working with HR and senior management where required.
- Monitor operational performance, KPIs, SLAs and reporting, ensuring effective client communication.
- Lead operational reviews and incidents, including coordination of tanker and jetting resources and liaison with the Client’s Incident Team.
- Ensure compliance with health & safety, SHEQ, quality, environmental and company standards.
- Manage resources effectively and promote best practice, continuous improvement and operational efficiency.
- Maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, employees and other stakeholders.
- Support company policies, Board strategies and wider business objectives.
- Promote a positive safety culture and ensure all staff follow safe systems of work and report unsafe conditions.
Skills: Essential
- Strong leadership, people management and communication skills.
- Excellent organisation, planning and stakeholder management.
- Ability to analyse data, produce reports and monitor performance.
- Effective budget and resource management.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities.
Desirable
- Knowledge of drainage, tankering or jetting operations.
- Advanced data analysis and reporting skills.
- Strong negotiation and conflict-resolution skills.
Experience: Essential
- Operational management experience.
- Experience managing field-based teams in service delivery or utilities.
- Proven success in improving performance and meeting SLAs.
- Experience in SHEQ compliance and safety management.
- Experience chairing operational/review meetings.
Desirable
- Experience within an IMS-certified organisation.
- Incident or emergency response experience.
- Experience working with SHEQ teams to improve safety culture.
Qualifications: Essential
- CITB or IOSH Managing Safety.
- SMSTS certification.
- Competence in Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint and Outlook.
Desirable
- Additional SHEQ qualifications/training.
- Management or leadership qualification (e.g. ILM/NVQ).
