Primary Teaching Assistant
A specialist SEND school in Carlisle is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Primary Teaching Assistant to join their supportive team. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in helping pupils with additional needs access education in a nurturing and structured environment.
The school is a well-established setting that caters to primary-aged pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, including autism, ADHD and communication difficulties. Staff are committed to creating a safe, inclusive and engaging learning environment where every child is supported to reach their full potential. The school prides itself on its collaborative approach, strong leadership and focus on both academic and emotional development.
The Role:
· Support pupils across the primary age range with a variety of SEND needs
· Work 1:1 and in small groups to deliver tailored learning and emotional support
· Assist the class teacher in planning and adapting activities to meet individual needs
· Promote a positive, safe and inclusive learning environment
· Encourage independence, confidence and social development in pupils
Qualifications & Requirements:
· Minimum qualifications required – A recognised Teaching Assistant qualification or a background in education or care (NVQ, CACHE, Degree or equivalent)
· Passionate working with young children or adults with disabilities

Pay Rate: £14.60 - £16.90 per hour

Monday – Friday
8.30am – 3.30pm

Safeguarding children is an integral part of what we do and we have a stringent safer recruitment process. We undertake checks on all the candidates we work with. As such we require a current Enhanced DBS Disclosure for everyone working in Schools. If you do not have a subscription to the DBS Update Service, you may be required to complete a new DBS application as part of the registration process. If you take a temporary role with Sense Education you will be paid on a weekly basis. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position but long term. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
