KS2 SEND Teaching Assistant
London Borough of Havering
September 2026 start
If you're already working as a SEND Teaching Assistant, you'll know that the right role isn't just about the school. It's about having the time, support and trust to help a child reach their potential.
We're looking for an experienced KS2 SEND Teaching Assistant to support a pupil with Autism in a primary school in Havering. This isn't a role where you'll simply be supervising. You'll play a key part in helping a child communicate, engage with learning and develop greater independence, celebrating the progress that comes from patience, consistency and the right approach.
Previous experience supporting children with Autism is essential, along with confidence using communication methods such as PECS and AAC devices. We're looking for someone who can bring that experience from day one and quickly build a positive, trusting relationship with their pupil, along with some fun!
You'll be joining an established SEND team that works closely together and understands that the best outcomes come from consistency. You'll have the opportunity to share ideas, work collaboratively and be part of a school that gives its support staff the autonomy to use their skills and experience.
If you enjoy the challenge of finding what works for each individual child and know that the smallest steps forward often become the biggest achievements, we'd love to hear from you.
The Headteacher is ready to interview as soon as suitable applications are received and is keen to secure the right person without delay. If you're thinking about making a move for September, we'd encourage you to apply now.
