Job Overview
We are seeking experienced and reliable Steel Fixers / Nip Hands to join our construction team. This is a long terms job for the right candidates. The successful candidates will be responsible for assisting with the assembly and installation of reinforced steel structures on various building sites. This role requires skilled manual work, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Candidates must be capable of heavy lifting and possess a strong understanding of construction techniques related to steel reinforcement.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the positioning, tying, and securing of steel reinforcement bars (rebars) according to project specifications
- Operate hand tools, power tools, and specialised equipment safely and effectively
- Read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints to ensure accurate placement of steel components
- Collaborate with other trades such as carpenters, masons, and roofers to coordinate tasks
- Perform heavy lifting duties safely, adhering to health and safety regulations at all times
- Maintain a clean and organised work area, ensuring all tools and materials are stored correctly after use
- Support the installation of steel frameworks in various construction environments, including commercial projects
Requirements
- Must have right to work or share code . Proven experience as a Steel Fixer or Nip Hand on construction sites
- Strong knowledge of welding, masonry, roofing, carpentry, and mechanical systems is desirable
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and relevant safety equipment
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and work at heights if required
- Valid driving licence for commercial driving is advantageous but not essential
- Mechanical knowledge combined with practical skills in using hand and power tools
- Excellent organisational skills with a focus on precision and safety standards
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
