ScotRail’s Recruitment Assistants play a pivotal role in ensuring a positive and engaging journey for both our hiring managers and candidates throughout the recruitment process. The successful candidate will support the Recruitment Assessors with all aspects of the recruitment process including managing the recruitment inbox, shortlisting applications, booking interviews and coordinating the onboarding process.
The successful candidate will:-
- Support the Recruitment Assessors to effectively manage their vacancies including candidate assessments, shortlisting, booking interviews and candidate engagement.
- Monitor the recruitment inbox and respond to queries within agreed timescales.
- Ensure all recruitment paperwork is collated and stored electronically.
- Provide interview outcomes and feedback to candidates.
- Support hiring managers throughout the recruitment process including providing applications, interview packs and updates on onboarding progress.
- Conduct candidate pre-employment checks including right to work, criminal records checks, references and medicals.
- Any other reasonable duties as required.
What you bring
Essential
- Previous experience supporting recruitment processes including candidate engagement and pre-employment checks.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications is essential and experience using recruitment ATS’ is highly desirable.
- Ability to work to own initiative to resolve candidate and hiring manager queries, whilst contributing to the wider team’s performance.
- Effective organisation skills and attention to detail with the ability to effectively manage competing priorities.
- Ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders at all levels both written and verbally.
Desirable:
- HR qualification or working towards a qualification.
- Experience of working with HRIS.
Please note – ScotRail offers a hybrid working model which is typically 3 days in the office and 2 days working from home.

Selection Process
