Role Description: We are seeking additional finance capacity to support the accounting phase of our ERP transformation, as we transition from legacy systems to Microsoft Business Central.
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a critical short-term project within a growing, family-owned Group undergoing significant change.
The Project Accountant will play a key role in supporting both legacy and new ERP environments, supplementing the existing finance team to ensure continuity of operations throughout the transition.
The successful candidate will help maintain the timeliness and accuracy of postings, support system set-up and configuration, and assist with data validation and corrections within Business Central to enable a smooth and successful migration.
Responsibilities
This will be a Dynamic role helping out and supporting across the team across data migration, testing, and reconciliation – areas of potential work will include:
ERP Implementation & Configuration
- Assist and required to help set up workflows, approval chains, and security roles in line with internal controls.
- Edits to standing data or processing rules (initial data uploaded will be completed with Business Central consultants but there may be edits or amendments required).
- Perform reconciliations between old and new systems during migration
- Ensure opening balances and historical data are accurate and complete
- Assist with testing and issue resolution.
Month-End & BAU Continuity
- Ensure month-end processes continue uninterrupted during implementation.
- Assist with journals, accruals, and reconciliations across both systems.
- Posting transactions into the sales ledger or reviewing / resolving sales ledger queries.
- Posting transactions into the purchase ledger or reviewing / resolving purchase ledger queries.
- Chasing up and resolving invoice authorisation queries so that documents can be posted and cleared for payment.
- Posting cash receipts against remittances.
- Reviewing bank reconciliations or resolving queries.
Reporting & Analysis
- Assist building initial financial reports and dashboards in D365.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Work closely with finance teams, IT, and implementation consultants.
KPI’s:
- Accuracy and timeliness of postings.
- Hitting deadlines to have monthly accounts completed by the 20th of the month following.
- Data Accuracy.
Qualifications
- ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent.
- Previous experience with Microsoft Dynamics.
Experience
- 3-4 years post qualified. Experienced accountant who can confidently & independently get involved in tasks and support across the accounting remit.
- Strong accounting foundation: UK GAAP/IFRS knowledge, month-end processes, reconciliations.
- Desirable ERP accounting or system implementation experience, preferably with Business Central or Microsoft ERP experience (but not essential).
- Desirable if candidates have experience in data migration, configuration, and UAT.
- Desirable if experience of food, manufacturing or FMCG and having experience in data migration, configuration, and testing.
Skills
- Excel (advanced).
- Problem-solving, analytical thinking, and attention to detail.
- Strong reconciliation and data analysis skills
- Ability to communicate technical ERP concepts to finance and business stakeholders.
