Job Overview
As a support worker in a 16+supported accommodation, you will play a key role in supporting young people aged 16-18. You will help young people develop independence and essential life skills while promoting their safety, wellbeing and personal development.
The role includes welfare checks, key-work sessions, safeguarding, supporting appointments and activities, and maintaining accurate records.

Key Responsibilities
- Promote safeguarding and the welfare of all young people.
- Respond appropriately to incidents and emergencies, using de-escalation techniques where necessary and escalating concerns to management.
- Support young people, including unaccompanied asylum-seeking children (UASC) and care leavers, to settle into their accommodation and access appropriate services.
- Encourage young people to make positive choices, develop confidence and take increasing responsibility for their daily lives.
- Build positive and trusting relationships with residents.
- Ensure accurate and timely record keeping.
- Liaise with social workers, education providers, healthcare professionals, and external agencies.
- Deliver key-work sessions based on each young person's individual needs, goals and support plan.
- Promote independence, education, employment, and positive outcomes for young people.
Experience
- Experience working with young people in supported accommodation, residential care, or a similar setting. (1 year required)
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding and child protection.
- Experience supporting young people to develop independent living skills, including budgeting, cooking, shopping and managing appointments.
- A genuine passion for supporting young people to reach their full potential.
Licence/Certification:
- Level 3 Diploma in Children and Young People's Workforce (or equivalent).
- Care Certificates
- Full UK driving licence.
Pay Rates: £11/hr
