About us
Xlent Foods Ltd is a family-run wholesale foodservice business based in Plymouth. We are looking for a dependable and hard-working Warehouse Operative / Delivery Driver to join our team.
This is a varied, hands-on position combining warehouse work with multi-drop deliveries in a 3.5-ton refrigerated vehicle. This is not a driving-only role: you will be expected to work confidently in both the warehouse and on delivery routes.
Working hours
- 40 hours per week
- Five shifts across Monday to Saturday
- A mixture of night, early-morning and daytime shifts
- Some Saturday work is required
- Early starts may include 4:00am
- Rotas are arranged according to warehouse and delivery requirements
Applicants must be able to work the full range of required shifts and have reliable transport or another reliable way of getting to work for early starts.
Main responsibilities
- Picking and packing customer orders accurately
- Checking orders before they leave the warehouse
- Loading and unloading delivery vehicles
- Making multi-drop customer deliveries throughout Plymouth and the surrounding area
- Driving a 3.5-ton refrigerated, Sprinter-sized vehicle
- Checking and putting away incoming deliveries
- Receiving goods into the warehouse
- Carrying out stock rotation and basic stock-control duties
- Keeping the warehouse, cold stores and work areas clean and organised
- Keeping delivery vehicles clean and reporting any defects
- Working in chilled and frozen storage areas, including temperatures as low as -20°C
- Using the company’s internal systems, with training provided
- Completing all assigned warehouse and delivery tasks safely, accurately and on time
What we are looking for
- A full UK driving licence
- The ability to meet the company’s vehicle-insurance requirements
- Reliable, punctual and able to attend early-morning or night shifts
- A strong work ethic and a positive attitude
- Good attention to detail
- Good time-management and organisational skills
- Comfortable carrying out manual handling and working on your feet
- Comfortable working in chilled and frozen environments
- Basic computer skills
- Able to work independently and as part of a small team
- Professional and polite when dealing with customers
Previous warehouse, foodservice, delivery or multi-drop driving experience is preferred but not essential. Training will be provided to the right person.
Weekly performance bonus
A weekly performance bonus is available for employees who consistently complete their assigned duties correctly, safely, on time and to the required standard.
Performance may include:
- Accurate picking and packing
- Completing delivery and warehouse duties within expected times
- Following company procedures
- Providing good customer service
- Taking proper care of stock, equipment and company vehicles
- Demonstrating consistent reliability and teamwork
Bonus payments are subject to the terms and eligibility requirements of the company bonus scheme.
