About Blackhurst & Co.
Blackhurst & Co. specialises in set design, set build, art department support, backdrop hire and prop hire for commercial campaigns across fashion, sport, music and brand activations.
Following our move into a larger workshop in Southport, we're expanding our freelance Workshop network and are looking to connect with reliable, practical people across Southport and Liverpool.
We work with brands including Gymshark, Primark, Liverpool FC, Manchester City, Chelsea FC, ASOS and British Vogue, preparing premium backdrops, props and bespoke sets for commercial productions across the UK.
Please note: This is a flexible freelance opportunity, not a permanent employed position. Work is offered on a project-by-project basis, with hours varying depending on upcoming bookings and workload.
Who we're looking for
We're looking to connect with reliable Workshop Assistants who enjoy a varied, hands-on role and take pride in keeping things organised and running efficiently.
This role is ideal for people with experience in workshops, warehouses, equipment hire, photo studios, logistics or other practical environments.
We're looking for practical, reliable and organised people with excellent attention to detail and a willingness to get stuck in. Previous experience in a workshop environment would be advantageous, but isn't essential.
Typical responsibilities
Responsibilities will vary depending on the project and the support required.
You may be involved in:
- Preparing premium hand-painted backdrops, props and equipment hires to a high standard for collection and delivery
- Checking hire items in and out of the workshop
- Inspecting and reporting any damage
- Cleaning, repairing and maintaining hire stock
- Organising workshop storage and inventory
- Loading and unloading vehicles
- Assisting with workshop fabrication and preparation
- Supporting the wider Blackhurst team when required
- Maintaining a clean, safe and organised workshop
Ideal experience
We're particularly interested in people with experience in:
- Workshop environments
- Warehouse operations
- Photo studios or studio assistant roles
- Equipment or tool hire
- Inventory and stock management
- Logistics and vehicle loading
- Manual handling
- General DIY or construction
What we're looking for
- Reliable and punctual
- Positive attitude and strong work ethic
- Excellent organisational skills
- Good practical problem-solving skills
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced workshop environment
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- Full UK driving licence is desirable, but not essential
