Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Panel Technician to join our team. The Panel Technician is responsible for repairing damaged vehicle bodywork to manufacturer and company standards, ensuring vehicles are returned to customers in a safe, roadworthy, and high-quality condition. The role requires technical skill, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to health and safety and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Strip and refit vehicle body panels and components for repair, in line with job cards and repair methods.
- Assess vehicle damage and check parts lists during strip-down, reporting any additional or missing parts to the Estimator.
- Repair or replace damaged panels and components as specified on the job card.
- Carry out jig work, pulling, and welding where required, using approved equipment and techniques.
- Use the correct fillers and materials to ensure durable and high-quality repairs.
- Ensure correct alignment, fit, and gaps of all panels to manufacturer specifications.
- Carry out quality checks on lights, locks, electrics, and related systems as part of Quality Control procedures.
- Complete quality control checks at each stage of the repair process, identifying and rectifying issues promptly.
- Read and follow manufacturer repair methods and technical instructions to ensure correct procedures are used.
- Perform air conditioning re-gas and wheel alignment/geometry only if trained and authorised to do so.
- Maintain accurate records of work completed in line with workshop processes.
You will be able to:
- Plan and manage your workload effectively to ensure vehicles are completed within agreed timescales.
- Work skilfully, accurately, and safely under pressure in a busy workshop environment.
- Carry out repairs strictly in accordance with manufacturer specifications and industry standards.
- Work effectively as part of a team, while also using your own initiative with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrate flexibility in approach to meet changing workloads and priorities.
- Maintain consistently high standards of workmanship with a strong focus on customer satisfaction.
Essential:
- Relevant panel beating or body repair qualifications.
- Previous experience in a vehicle bodyshop or accident repair centre.
Full Time 40 hours per week, Location Peterborough.
