Job Title: Café Supervisor
Reporting to: Catering & Events Manager
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, worked on a shift basis, Monday to Sunday between 7:00am and 8:00pm.
About the Role
We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Café Supervisor to join our busy members' café within our thriving health club. This is a hands-on role that combines kitchen, food service and supervisory responsibilities, ensuring our members receive high-quality food and excellent customer service in a welcoming environment.
Working closely with the Catering & Events Manager, you will play an important role in the day-to-day operation of the café, helping to develop new menu ideas and café offerings while maintaining exceptional standards of food quality, hygiene and customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, cook and present hot and cold food in accordance with menu specifications and company standards.
- Supervise the day-to-day operation of the café, ensuring smooth and efficient service.
- Deliver excellent customer service and create a welcoming atmosphere for members and guests.
- Support the Catering & Events Manager in developing new menu items, seasonal specials and café promotions.
- Maintain high standards of food quality, presentation and consistency.
- Monitor stock levels, complete stock takes and place orders to ensure appropriate stock availability while minimising waste.
- Ensure compliance with all food safety, hygiene and health & safety legislation.
- Maintain a clean, organised and hygienic kitchen and café environment at all times.
- Monitor food preparation and service standards, identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Assist with staff training and support team members in maintaining operational standards.
- Follow opening and closing procedures and ensure all equipment is operated safely and correctly.
- Undertake any other reasonable duties required to support the successful operation of the catering department.
Person SpecificationEssential
- Level 2 Food Safety & Hygiene Certificate (or equivalent).
- Previous experience working in a commercial kitchen, café, catering environment or similar hospitality setting.
- Experience preparing and cooking food to consistent standards.
- Good understanding of food safety, HACCP principles and kitchen hygiene.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a busy environment.
- Flexible approach to working shifts, including weekends.
Desirable
- Previous supervisory or team leader experience.
- Experience of stock control and ordering.
- Experience working within a health club, leisure or hospitality environment.
- Knowledge of allergen management and dietary requirements.

Pay: £27,872.00 per year
