THE ROLE
Working as a member of a schools cleaning team responsible for the maintenance of high standards of cleanliness throughout the school. Each team member is responsible for an area and is expected to clean to the frequency and standard as directed.
Health, safety and hygiene:
To conform to the School’s Health and Safety policy at all times and to be responsible for health and safety at work both on a personal basis and in regards to others.
Work performed and/or key result areas:
As a member of the Cleaning Team, you will undertake a range of duties in the following areas:
- Clean allocated area to a high standard and strive for excellence.
- Maintain stocks of cleaning materials within cleaning cupboards, reporting to the Cleaning Supervisor when stocks need replenishing.
- Working with the Cleaning Supervisor, respond to cleaning audits to make improvements where necessary.
- Undertake training as required by the school or Cleaning Supervisor.
- Deep cleaning as directed by Cleaning Supervisor.
- Report defects of equipment, furniture/fittings and electrical appliances to the Cleaning Supervisor.
- Comply with documented procedures, COSHH and health and safety instructions.
- Comply with Health and Safety legislation, the School’s Health and Safety Policy and team risk assessments.
- Carry out any other task or duties deemed reasonable.
THE PERSON
Desirable
- NVQ Level 2 in Cleaning and Support Service Skills or equivalent.
- Experience of undertaking general cleaning duties in a non-domestic environment.
- Experience of undertaking cleaning duties in a school.
- Use of floor and upholstery cleaning machinery.
- Awareness of Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH).
