Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Security Lighting & CCTV Installer to join our team in the Wirral area.
The primary focus of this role will be the installation, testing and maintenance of external security lighting at domestic properties, including PIR and motion-activated lighting.
The role will also require the installation, configuration and maintenance of CCTV systems, so candidates should either have existing CCTV experience or be comfortable developing their skills in this area.
You will work directly in customers' homes and communities, installing practical security measures designed to increase safety, reassurance and confidence.
The successful candidate will have strong practical and electrical skills, experience installing external lighting or similar electrical equipment, and a professional approach when working in occupied domestic properties.
Responsibilities
- Install external security lighting at domestic properties, including PIR, motion-activated and other appropriate external lighting systems.
- Assess suitable locations for security lighting to provide effective illumination while taking account of the property, customer requirements and surrounding environment.
- Safely mount security lights, cabling and associated equipment to external walls and other suitable surfaces.
- Complete electrical connections associated with security lighting installations in accordance with relevant electrical regulations, manufacturer instructions and company safety procedures.
- Test security lighting installations before leaving site to ensure correct positioning, activation, coverage and operation.
- Diagnose and resolve faults relating to external security lighting and associated electrical components.
- Install and configure CCTV systems at domestic and other approved locations.
- Assess suitable locations for CCTV cameras to provide effective security coverage.
- Safely mount CCTV cameras and associated equipment.
- Connect, configure and test CCTV network components to ensure reliable operation.
- Troubleshoot technical issues relating to CCTV hardware, software and networking.
- Test all CCTV installations before leaving site to ensure equipment is operating correctly.
- Explain the operation of security lighting and CCTV equipment clearly to customers following completion of the work.
- Work respectfully and professionally within customers' homes, recognising that many service users may be vulnerable or experiencing difficult circumstances.
- Maintain accurate documentation and records of installations, equipment fitted and work completed.
- Ensure work areas are left clean, safe and tidy following installation.
- Adhere to company health and safety procedures, risk assessments and safe working practices at all times.
- Safely use ladders, hand tools, power tools, electrical testing equipment and other installation equipment.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, local authority partners and customers to deliver appropriate security solutions.
- Keep up to date with developments in security lighting, CCTV and associated technology.
Qualifications and Experience
- Proven experience installing external lighting, security lighting or similar electrical equipment at domestic properties.
- Strong practical electrical knowledge and experience working safely with electrical systems.
- Appropriate electrical qualifications or demonstrated competency to undertake the electrical elements of external security lighting installations.
- Experience working in occupied domestic properties.
- Experience installing CCTV systems is highly desirable, although additional training can be provided to candidates with strong electrical and installation experience.
- Understanding of CCTV systems, networking and system configuration would be advantageous.
- Ability to interpret basic electrical diagrams, schematics and installation instructions.
- Competent in the safe use of hand tools, power tools, access equipment and electrical testing equipment.
- Good practical problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and manage a daily schedule of appointments.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Professional, respectful and considerate approach when working with customers.
- Relevant electrical, security or CCTV certifications would be advantageous.
- Full UK driving licence preferred.
