We are looking for a motivated and reliable Trainee Poultry Manager to join our team on a modern free range egg farm managing 21000 laying hens.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in agriculture and livestock who wants to develop practical skills and progress into a management role.
On the job training will be provided but a strong work ethic, attention to detail and a genuine interest in animal welfare are essential. You will need to be physically fit as a significant part of this role is of a physical nature.
We are a family run farm with different enterprises. There may also be the opportunity for the right candidate to learn other aspects of the business.
You will be joining an experienced team.
Key responsibilities
Ensure good welfare of poultry across the site
Assisting with the daily management and care of 21000 free range laying hens
Monitoring flock health, behaviour and welfare
Collecting and recording production data (egg numbers, feed usage, mortality)
Egg collection, grading and quality control
Maintaining feed, water and housing systems
Ensuring high standards of biosecurity and hygiene
Supporting routine cleaning, maintenance and farm upkeep
Learning to manage flock performance and farm operations
What we are looking for -
Interest in livestock farming and in particular poultry production
Reliable, hardworking and able to work independently and as part of a team.
Proactive attitude and ability to prioritise workload
Good communication, observational and problem solving skills
Comfortable working outdoors and around livestock
Basic record keeping and communication skills
Full driving licence preferred but not essential
Previous poultry or farming experience is beneficial but not essential as on job training will be provided.
