justteachers are recruiting for a full-time SEND Cover Supervisor to start in September 2026, or sooner for the right candidate, at a specialist educational provision in Lincoln supporting pupils aged 3-19 with a range of additional learning needs. This role is offered on a temporary-to-permanent basis for candidates looking to establish themselves within a supportive and rewarding specialist setting.
This well-established specialist school provides education for children and young people with a variety of learning needs, offering a highly personalised curriculum designed to develop independence, confidence and preparation for adulthood. The school places a strong emphasis on inclusion, communication and ensuring every pupil is given the opportunity to achieve their individual potential.
As a SEND Cover Supervisor, you will play an important role in maintaining continuity of learning across the school. Working closely with teaching staff and support teams, you will deliver pre-planned lessons, supervise classes in the absence of the teacher and provide additional support to help pupils remain engaged and successful in their learning.
The successful candidate will be confident leading groups of pupils, adaptable in their approach and able to build positive relationships with learners of varying abilities. This role would suit an experienced Teaching Assistant, Cover Supervisor or support professional looking to take on additional responsibility within a SEND environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise whole classes during planned and unplanned teacher absence.
Deliver pre-prepared lessons and learning activities.
Support pupils to access learning and remain engaged throughout the day.
Adapt activities where necessary to meet individual learning needs.
Promote positive behaviour and uphold school expectations.
Work closely with Teaching Assistants and support staff within lessons.
Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
Support pupils with communication, social and emotional development.
Contribute to a safe, inclusive and nurturing learning environment.
Maintain high standards of safeguarding and professional practice.
Pre-requisites:
Previous experience working within a school or educational setting.
Experience supporting pupils with SEND is highly desirable.
Confidence leading groups and managing classroom behaviour.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and colleagues.
Flexible, patient and resilient approach.
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
Ability to provide two professional references covering the last two years of employment, education or training.
Pay: £100.00-£125.00 per day
