Job Title: Digital Media Examiner - Technician - NDES S3 - Police Staff - CTP London
Salary: The starting salary is £ 46,985, which includes allowances totalling £3,009.
The salary is broken down as £ 43,976, basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale £ 49,670. Plus, a location allowance of £2,009 and a non-pensionable allowance of £1,000.

Job Summary
This is an exciting opportunity for successful candidates to join the Counter Terrorism Command’s Digital Media Examinations department as a Digital Forensic Technician.
Are you passionate about technology and dedicated to uncovering the truth? We are looking for talented, enthusiastic individuals to undertake digital forensic examinations on a variety of digital devices, such as mobile phones or computers. You will be playing your part in investigating some of the most serious counter terrorism operations.
Key Tasks
The post holder will be required to do the following:
Forensic imaging and extraction of data from digital devices, including mobile devices, computers, and storage media
Supporting non-technical staff, including police officers, to operate digital forensic systems
Quality assuring/peer reviewing examinations
Provision of evidence viewing capabilities for investigating officers
Answering technical queries from non-technical staff and police officers
Court appearance as witness of fact
Key Skills
The post holder must have:
Numeracy skills
Excellent attention to detail, organisation and management skills
Excellent computer skills
Strong knowledge of, and interest in, all modern digital technologies with an emphasis on the forensic opportunities offered by their examination, and the challenges faced by law enforcement
Ability to build effective relationships with customers, colleagues and stakeholders, with strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work as a team as well as autonomously
Vetting & Strap
This post requires access to the most sensitive intelligence material on a daily basis. Applicants must hold or be prepared to undergo National Security Vetting (NSV) Developed Vetting (DV) level before taking up the post.
Additionally, this material is of particular sensitivity to the UK and its distribution must be restricted to UK nationals. In approved circumstances dual nationals (of which one element is British) may also be granted access. However, in the event that potential conflicts of interest cannot be managed the post holder will not be able to see the intelligence material and will not be able to perform their duties. For the purpose of safeguarding national security and in line with Cabinet Office Policy, supported by Section 82(2) to (4) of the Police Reform Act (2002), applicants who do not hold or acquire Security Check (enhanced) (SC(e)) OR Developed Vetting (DV) clearance and meet the nationality requirements cannot be offered the post.

A willingness to undergo and positively engage in the Developed Vetting (DV) process. Confirmation in post may be subject to succesfully obtaining DV status.
Candidates must understand that the nature of the work involved may expose them to potentially distressing material such as pictures and video files of death, extreme violence or child abuse. The candidate must be willing to undergo any psychological assessments required by the Unit Management as part of its responsibility towards staff welfare.
A current full UK driving licence.
The successful candidate should be prepared to join a 24/7 call out scheme, potentially work extended hours at short notice including weekends to achieve urgent investigative objectives. The role may also involve overseas travel for operational purposes.
Desirables
Degree or significant experience in digital forensics or associated degree level program
Vetting to SC or DV (STRAP)
A recognised formal qualification in computer science (including forensic techniques) and / or a recognised general certification in computer / mobile forensics (such as the IACIS CFCE or Cranfield University Forensic Computing MSc Foundation course) and / or a recognised product specific certification (such as the Guidance Software EnCE or the AccessData Forensic Toolkit ACE or Cellebrite CCLO/CCPA or X-Ways X-Pert).
Previous experience handling exhibits and evidence, and considerations around continuity and integrity
Familiarity with forensic environments and forensic quality management systems
Knowledge of working within a Quality Management System and understanding of ISO17025.
