We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food and a desire to learn within a dynamic kitchen environment. This role is essential in supporting our chef and ensuring the smooth operation of our kitchen, contributing to the preparation of high-quality meals for our customers.
Duties
- Assist in the preparation and cooking of meals, ensuring all food is prepared to the highest standards.
- Support with food preparation tasks, including chopping, slicing, and assembling ingredients.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen, adhering to food safety and hygiene standards.
- Help with catering events as required, ensuring timely service and presentation of dishes.
- Participate in inventory management by assisting with stock rotation and reporting any shortages.
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure efficient workflow during busy periods.
- Serve meals to customers when necessary, providing excellent customer service.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a kitchen environment is essential, ideally within a sandwich shop or cafe at a fast pace.
- Basic culinary skills with a keen interest in cooking and meal preparation.
- Understanding of food safety regulations and best practices.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team while also being able to take initiative when required.
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail.
- Flexibility to work various shifts as needed, including weekends.
