Salary: £37,500 - £39,000 DOE
Employment Status: Permanent, Full-Time
Working Hours: 40 hours per week
- Monday – Thursday: 07:45 – 17:00
- Friday: 07:30 – 12:30
Annual Leave: 25 Days + Bank Holidays
Role Overview
An established engineering and manufacturing business is seeking an experienced Control Panel Supervisor to lead a skilled team of electrical panel wirers and fitters within its Panel Shop operation.
Reporting to the Manufacturing Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day activities of the department, ensuring customer orders are completed safely, on time, and to the highest quality standards. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring strong electrical knowledge, excellent organisational skills, and the ability to drive team performance within a fast-paced project-based environment.
Key Responsibilities
Production & Project Delivery
- Lead and coordinate daily activities within the Panel Shop to ensure projects are completed on time and to specification.
- Take ownership of projects from commencement through to successful completion.
- Plan and allocate resources effectively to meet weekly production schedules.
- Monitor progress against delivery targets and address any issues that may impact completion dates.
- Ensure all control panels are manufactured in accordance with engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
- Coordinate facility development and improvement activities within the department.
Team Leadership & Development
- Provide hands-on leadership, support, and motivation to a team of electrical panel wirers and fitters.
- Communicate daily objectives and priorities clearly to the team.
- Support employee development through coaching, mentoring, and skills training.
- Assist with performance management, attendance monitoring, and disciplinary processes where required.
- Promote a positive team culture focused on accountability, quality, and continuous improvement.
Quality & Technical Compliance
- Ensure all testing, inspection, and quality checks are completed before panels are released for system build.
- Maintain high standards of workmanship and compliance with customer specifications.
- Read, interpret, and support the implementation of electrical schematics and technical drawings.
- Provide technical guidance and support to the team when resolving build or wiring issues.
- Support root cause investigations and corrective actions for quality concerns.
Continuous Improvement
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the Panel Shop.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, productivity, quality, and safety.
- Support the implementation of best practices and standardised working methods.
- Contribute to process improvement projects across the wider manufacturing function.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure all activities are carried out in accordance with company Health & Safety policies.
- Promote safe working practices and ensure PPE requirements are adhered to at all times.
- Support risk assessments and safe systems of work.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and professional working environment.
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Minimum 3 years' experience in a supervisory role within manufacturing, electrical assembly, or a similar engineering environment.
- Strong electrical knowledge, particularly within control panels and automation systems.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and engineering drawings.
- Hands-on experience in electrical fitting, panel wiring, or electrical assembly.
- Strong organisational and planning skills.
- Proven ability to lead teams and deliver projects to challenging deadlines.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
Desirable
- Experience with inverter parameter loading and commissioning activities.
- Previous experience within a bespoke engineering, automation, or project-based manufacturing environment.
- Electrical qualification or apprenticeship.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement methodologies.
