Ye Olde Pump House is a busy traditional pub in the heart of Hastings Old Town, serving a popular menu of homemade pub classics including burgers, pies, fish & chips, Sunday roasts and daily specials.
We are looking for an experienced Pub Chef / Senior Cook to join our kitchen team and help us continue improving and developing our food operation.
This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys cooking quality pub food, takes pride in their work and wants to become a valued member of a small, friendly team rather than just another number in a large hospitality group.
The Role
You will be responsible for:
- Cooking and presenting meals to company standards
- Running service confidently during busy periods
- Food preparation and stock rotation
- Maintaining excellent food hygiene and safety standards
- Assisting with deliveries and stock control
- Supporting the training and development of newer kitchen team members
- Keeping the kitchen clean, organised and service-ready
- Working closely with management to improve kitchen systems and standards
What We're Looking ForEssential
- Previous experience working in a commercial kitchen
- Ability to work calmly and efficiently during busy services
- Good understanding of food hygiene and food safety
- Reliable, punctual and hard-working
- Positive attitude and team-player mentality
- Ability to work evenings, weekends and bank holidays
Desirable
- Previous experience in a pub kitchen
- Experience cooking traditional pub food
- Stock control or ordering experience
- Food Hygiene Certificate
