Senior Social Worker – Families First Initial Support Team

Sanctuary Personnel are recruiting for an experienced Senior Social Worker to join the Families First Initial Support Team within Children’s Social Care in Ealing. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled Children’s Social Worker to support children, young people, and families through complex safeguarding work while delivering high-quality statutory social care services.
You will be responsible for managing complex caseloads, undertaking assessments, supporting risk management, and working collaboratively with partner agencies to improve outcomes for children and families.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a complex caseload of children and families requiring statutory social work intervention.
- Undertake high-quality assessments, analysis, and planning to safeguard children and promote positive outcomes.
- Lead on complex cases involving safeguarding concerns, child protection, neglect, domestic abuse, parental mental health, substance misuse, exploitation, and other vulnerabilities.
- Complete Child and Family Assessments, Section 47 enquiries, Child Protection Plans, and other statutory assessments in line with legislation and local procedures.
- Provide professional advice, guidance, and support to colleagues, partner agencies, and families.
- Work collaboratively with schools, health professionals, police, housing services, and other agencies as part of a multi-agency approach.
- Ensure children and young people’s voices are heard and reflected throughout assessments, plans, and interventions.
- Chair meetings including strategy discussions and contribute to decision-making around risk and safeguarding.
- Support the development of less experienced social workers, students, and family practitioners through mentoring and knowledge sharing.
- Maintain accurate case records and ensure compliance with statutory timescales, quality standards, and safeguarding procedures.
- Contribute to service improvements and promote evidence-based social work practice.
Requirements
- Social Work degree or recognised Social Work qualification.
- Current registration with Social Work England (SWE).
- Successful completion of the ASYE programme.
- Minimum of 2 years’ post-qualifying experience within statutory Children’s Social Care.
- Strong experience managing complex safeguarding cases and child protection work.
- Knowledge and understanding of key legislation including the Children Act 1989, Children Act 2004, and Working Together to Safeguard Children 2023.
- Experience completing assessments, risk analysis, court reports, and statutory documentation.
- Ability to work effectively with children, families, and multi-agency professionals.
- Strong communication, analytical, and decision-making skills.
- Experience supporting or mentoring other social care professionals is desirable.
- Enhanced DBS clearance required.
