Conditions:
This is a fixed-term maternity cover post for 8 to 12 hours per week, normally worked across two or three four-hour evening shifts.
The post will involve regular evening working. The Attic normally operates on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, with staff working four-hour shifts from 6.00pm to 10.00pm. Young people attend from 6.30pm onwards.
Occasional weekend work, training or meetings may also be required by prior agreement.
Job Purpose:
The postholder will work under the direction of the Board of Trustees and alongside The Attic's other youth workers to deliver fun, inclusive, educational and engaging activities for young people. The successful candidate will build positive and trusted relationships, provide appropriate group and individual support, and help young people develop confidence, resilience, life skills and opportunities to participate.
The postholder will contribute, where appropriate, to community engagement and development activity supported by Angus Rural Partnership funding.
Main Duties:
1. Plan, prepare and deliver a varied programme of fun, engaging and inclusive youth club activities and events.
2. Build positive, trusted relationships with young people and support their personal, social and emotional development.
3. Provide appropriate group and individual support within the boundaries of the role, offering reliable information and signposting young people to specialist services where required.
4. Consult young people, involve them in shaping The Attic's programme and respond to their feedback and emerging needs.
5. Support young people to develop confidence, resilience, teamwork, leadership and practical life skills.
6. Conduct yourself professionally while remaining enthusiastic, fun and approachable, participating fully in sessions to develop relationships and trust.
7. Recognise, record and respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns in line with The Attic's policies and procedures, maintaining confidentiality and professional boundaries.
8. Actively promote equality, inclusion, positive behaviour and anti-discriminatory practice.
9. Work in partnership with local schools, including supporting engagement with pupils across all year groups and the transition from P7 to secondary school.
10. Maintain accurate and timely records of youth work sessions, including attendance, incidents, safeguarding concerns, plans, evaluations and timesheets.
11. Gather feedback and contribute to the monitoring and evaluation of activities and outcomes.
12. Organise and deliver Pack a Difference campaigns to meet vital basic needs while increasing The Attic’s visibility, strengthening community engagement and encouraging wider participation and support.
13. Attend staff meetings, supervision and training as required, and complete reasonable preparation and follow-up work connected with youth sessions.
14. Maintain continuing professional development through agreed training and supervision.
15. Undertake any other reasonable duties within the competence and scope of the postholder, as agreed with the Trustees.This may include, where appropriate, supporting community engagement and development activities in line with the agreed criteria of the Angus Rural Partnership funding.

- Experience organising events, campaigns or community projects.
- Experience contributing to grant-funded projects and demonstrating outcomes.
Pay: £13.00 per hour
