We’re looking for a Project Buyer who enjoys working with suppliers and internal teams, supporting live projects, and keeping purchasing activity running smoothly behind the scenes.
This is a key role within the business, blending procurement expertise with strong relationship management and hands‑on responsibility for costs, stock, and supplier performance. You’ll play an important part in supporting customer projects by ensuring accurate pricing, reliable supply, and on‑time‑in‑full delivery.
Job Tasks
Costing & Sales Support
- Obtain up to date costs for previously sold products in response to live sales enquiries
- Provide quick, accurate pricing information to support customer quotations
Purchasing & Stock Management
- Create Purchase Orders for live projects and take full ownership of OTIF delivery
- Monitor and manage stock levels for contract specific stocked items within your business unit
- Work closely with Sales teams to gather and maintain forecasted stock requirements
- Use the company ERP system confidently and accurately for all relevant transactions
Supplier Relationship Management
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with key suppliers
- Hold regular virtual calls and periodic face to face supplier meetings
- Negotiate supplier contracts and commercial terms
- Identify additional commercial or operational benefits suppliers can offer
- Hold suppliers accountable against agreed service and performance measures
- Act as a point of escalation for supplier and internal stakeholders when issues arise
- Work closely with the Quality Control team to ensure product standards are maintained
Continuous Improvement & Collaboration
- Improve business profitability through effective cost reduction initiatives
- Identify process inefficiencies or waste and highlight these to your line manager
- Support the training and development of new team members
- Actively participate in meetings, projects, and wider business activities
- Work towards personal development plans and performance objectives agreed with your line manager
Who We’re Looking For
Essential
- Minimum requirement of 4 GCSEs at Grade 5 (or B‑) or above, including English (One of these should be GCSE Mathematics at Grade 6 (or B) or above, or an equivalent qualification.)
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
- Proven experience in a Procurement role
- A solution‑focused mindset with strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
- Able to adapt to changing priorities in a fastpaced environment
Desirable Skills and Attributes
- Highly motivated with strong attention to detail
- Experience using ERP systems
- An interest in technical or engineering concepts to support understanding of production processes
- Strong planning, organisation and multitasking skills
- A proactive attitude and willingness to get stuck in
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Comfortable working independently as well as part of a team
