Job Overview:
We are looking for a compassionate, creative, and enthusiastic Activities Coordinator to join our team at Sandhall Park Care Home. You will be responsible for designing, organizing, and delivering a variety of engaging activities that enhance the physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing of our residents. Your role is vital in promoting a stimulating and enjoyable living environment that supports social interaction and personal fulfilment.
Previous experience as a carer, or working in a care environment would be advantageous.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, coordinate, and implement a wide range of daily, weekly, and monthly activities tailored to residents' interests, needs, and capabilities.
- Encourage resident participation in activities, adapting plans for individual needs (including those with dementia or limited mobility).
- Organize events such as games, arts and crafts, music sessions, reminiscence therapy, exercise classes, outings, and seasonal celebrations.
- Liaise with care staff, residents, families, and external entertainers or volunteers to ensure an inclusive and diverse programme.
- Maintain accurate records of resident participation and feedback to continuously improve the activities offered.
- Promote activities through displays, newsletters, and social media.
- Support the induction of new residents by introducing them to the activities program and encouraging social inclusion.
- Ensure all activities are delivered in a safe, person-centred manner, following care home policies and risk assessments.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in a similar role, preferably within a care home or community setting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Compassionate and patient with a genuine interest in the wellbeing of older adults.
- Creativity and enthusiasm in planning a varied activity programme.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work flexibly, including occasional evenings or weekends for special events.
- Basic IT skills for record keeping and communications.
Desirable:
- Qualification in health and social care or activity coordination (e.g. NAPA, NCFE Level 2 in Activity Provision).
- Knowledge of dementia care and person-centred approaches.
