Early Years Practitioner (Level 3 or Equivalent)

St Matthew’s Playgroup is seeking a committed and enthusiastic Level 3 Early Years Practitioner (or equivalent) to join our dedicated team from September 2026. We are a warm, community‑focused setting that places children’s wellbeing, curiosity and early learning at the heart of everything we do.
Role Overview
The successful candidate will contribute to the delivery of high‑quality early years provision, supporting children’s learning and development through play‑based experiences. You will work as part of a small, supportive team to create a safe, inclusive and stimulating environment where every child can thrive.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high‑quality care and education in line with the EYFS
- Support children’s learning through purposeful play, observation and interaction
- Build positive, professional relationships with children and their families
- Contribute to planning, assessment and record‑keeping
- Maintain a safe, nurturing and inclusive environment
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to uphold the ethos and values of the playgroup
Essential Requirements
- A Level 3 Early Years qualification (or equivalent)
- Strong understanding of early childhood development and the EYFS
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Warm, professional communication skills
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
Desirable Qualities
- Experience working in a playgroup, nursery or early years setting
- Creativity, flexibility and a child‑centred approach
- Confidence supporting outdoor learning and hands‑on activities
Hours & Contract
- Term‑time only
- 8:45am – 3:45pm, Monday to Friday
- Start date: September 2026
Hourly Rate:
· £10.85 (ages 18–20)
· £12.71 (ages 21+)
