Post Office & Banking Hub Clerk
Location: Kirkburton, Holmfirth and Penistone

About the role
We are looking for a friendly, reliable and flexible individual to join our team as a Post Office and Banking Hub Clerk.
The successful candidate will work across our Post Office branches in Kirkburton and Holmfirth, as well as our Banking Hub in Penistone. This is a varied, customer-facing position that requires excellent attention to detail, confidence when handling money and the ability to provide a professional service to customers.
Contracted hours will usually be between 20 and 24 hours per week, with additional hours available to provide cover for colleagues’ holidays and sickness.
Working patterns will include weekdays and Saturdays, so applicants must be able to work flexibly across all three locations.
Main responsibilities
- Providing a friendly, professional and efficient service to customers
- Processing Post Office counter transactions accurately and securely
- Carrying out cash withdrawals, deposits and other everyday banking transactions
- Handling cash and balancing the counter at the end of the working day
- Processing mail, parcels, returns and other Post Office services
- Following all security, compliance and identification-checking procedures
- Helping customers understand the services available to them
- Maintaining confidentiality when dealing with customers’ personal and financial information
- Supporting colleagues across the three locations when required
- Completing relevant training and keeping knowledge of services and procedures up to date
About you
We are looking for someone who is:
- Friendly, approachable and confident when dealing with customers
- Reliable, trustworthy and punctual
- Comfortable handling cash and completing financial transactions
- Accurate, organised and able to follow detailed procedures
- Able to remain calm and professional in a busy customer-facing environment
- Confident using computers and electronic counter systems
- Willing and able to work flexibly across weekdays and Saturdays
- Available to provide additional holiday and sickness cover when required
- Able to work independently as well as part of a wider team
Previous Post Office counter experience and current Post Office training would be a strong advantage. However, we are willing to provide full training to the right candidate who can demonstrate the necessary reliability, customer-service skills and willingness to learn.
Essential requirement
A full UK driving licence and access to reliable transport are essential, as the role involves working between Kirkburton, Holmfirth and Penistone.
