The Bar Assistant will not be expected to have expereince in hospitality but would be preferred, but must be keen to learn, and is not concerned with working in a busy service environment.
The job requires the following:
- Greet customers with a warm and friendly smile, informing them on menu specials and/or menu changes, make suggestions and answer questions regarding food, beverage & service.
- Take orders from customers, relay orders to kitchen staff and key orders into till system.
- Ensure the delivery of correct orders and make sure quality standards are met with each order.
- Serve food from the kitchen promptly.
- Service drinks from the bar area
- Respond to all customer questions and concerns, ensuring that customers are satisfied with the service.
- Calculate customer bills and process collection of payment.
- Ensure bar fridges are fully stocked at all times.
- Maintain a clean and orderly service area at all times and empty rubbish throughout the day.
- Maintain a clean bar/restaurant area making sure that tables are clean at all times.
- Maintain proper food handling and safety requirements at all times
- Maintain and update knowledge on the dishes being served.
- Inform kitchen staff of any special customer requests feedback
- Follow Legal Procedures when serving alcoholic beverages, for example, requesting forms of identification and discontinuing to serve to intoxicated customers.
- Maintain cleanliness of all areas of responsibility.
- Adhere to basic health and safety legislation and work within the guidelines laid down the by the company and relevant legislative bodies.
