A unique and exciting opportunity has arisen to join our small friendly team at the Southwoods Nursing Home. We are looking for a talented care assistant assistant to join our home whom is keen and eager to progress. We are a nursing home supporting adults with mental illness. We pride ourselves in helping people to stay well and live a fulfilling life.
Your Responsibilities
Resident Experience
- Treat all residents with dignity, respect and kindness.
- Build positive relationships with residents and families.
- Promote independence and choice wherever possible.
- Engage with residents and provide companionship.
- Respond promptly to requests for assistance.
Housekeeping
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness throughout the home.
- Clean communal areas, bedrooms and bathrooms as required.
- Follow infection prevention and control procedures.
- Report maintenance issues or hazards immediately.
- Ensure cleaning equipment is used and stored safely.
Dining Support
- Prepare dining areas before meals.
- Serve meals and drinks professionally.
- Support residents with meal choices.
- Clear and clean dining areas after meals.
- Report concerns regarding poor appetite or hydration to care staff.
Laundry
- Wash, dry, iron and return residents' clothing correctly.
- Label and organise clothing appropriately.
- Prevent cross-contamination through correct laundry procedures.
- Report damaged or missing clothing.
Health & Safety
- Follow all health and safety policies.
- Use equipment safely.
- Report accidents, incidents and near misses.
- Maintain a safe environment for residents, visitors and colleagues.
- Follow fire safety procedures.
What We’re Looking For
We are seeking someone who:
- Holds (or is willing to work towards) NVQ Level 2/3 in Health & Social Care
- Is confident leading a team, especially during night shifts
- Has strong clinical awareness and attention to detail
- Is compassionate, reliable, and proactive
- Has good written and verbal communication skills
