iCare Dental Labs
iCare Dental Labs is a growing, digitally focused dental laboratory established by the team behind iCare Dental Ltd.
Based in Croydon, South London, our laboratory has been developed around modern digital dentistry, CAD/CAM manufacturing, 3D printing and advanced restorative and implant workflows.
As we expand our digital and implant services, we are looking for a Digital Dental Technician with a strong technical mindset and particular interest in implant dentistry.
This position would suit someone with approximately 2–4 years' practical digital dental laboratory experience who already has a good foundation in CAD design and wants to develop into more advanced implant, surgical guide and full-arch digital workflows.
The Role
This is primarily a digital design and technical role rather than a traditional bench technician position.
You will work with our senior dental technicians and clinicians on digital restorative and implant cases, from receipt of intraoral scans through CAD design, production and final quality control.
As your experience develops, we would like you to become increasingly involved in the technical aspects of implant cases, including surgical guide design, digital wax-ups, implant restorations and more advanced full-arch workflows.
We are particularly interested in candidates who enjoy the technical and problem-solving side of dental technology and want to develop specialist knowledge of implant systems and digital implant dentistry.
Key ResponsibilitiesDigital Dental Design
- Design crowns, bridges, veneers, copings and other restorations using Exocad, 3Shape or equivalent dental CAD software
- Receive, review and prepare intraoral scan and STL files
- Check margins, contacts, anatomy, occlusion and emergence profiles
- Produce manufacturing-ready digital files for milling and 3D printing
- Create digital diagnostic wax-ups and smile designs
- Review digital cases for potential technical or manufacturing issues before production
Digital Implant Workflows
Working alongside senior technicians and the treating clinician, you will assist with increasingly advanced implant workflows, including:
- Implant-supported crowns and bridges
- Custom implant restorations and abutment workflows
- Digital wax-ups for prosthetically driven implant cases
- Implant scan body workflows
- Immediate provisional restorations
- Multi-unit and full-arch restorative cases
- Understanding implant components, platforms, libraries and restorative options
The successful candidate will be expected to develop a strong working knowledge of different implant systems and their digital workflows.
Surgical Guide & Implant Planning Support
As the laboratory develops this service, the role will also involve supporting the technical design and manufacture of surgical guides.
This may include:
- Importing and managing CBCT/DICOM data
- Aligning CBCT/DICOM datasets with intraoral STL scans
- Creating digital diagnostic wax-ups
- Supporting clinician-led digital implant planning
- Designing tooth-supported surgical guides
- Progressing towards more complex mucosa-supported and full-arch guide workflows
- Understanding guided surgery sleeves, drilling protocols and implant-system-specific components
- Preparing approved designs for 3D printing
- Checking guide fit, design parameters and manufacturability
Clinical diagnosis, treatment planning and final implant positioning remain the responsibility of the treating clinician. The technician's role is to provide high-quality technical design and laboratory support to the clinician.
Digital Manufacturing
You will also assist with:
- 3D printing of dental models, surgical guides and other appliances
- Preparing print files, supports and build platforms
- Post-processing and finishing
- Digital milling workflows
- Maintaining digital case files and production records
- Quality control before cases are released
What We Are Looking ForEssential
- Approximately 1–2 years' experience within a dental laboratory or dental CAD environment
- Practical experience using Exocad, 3Shape or comparable dental CAD software
- Experience designing crowns and bridges
- Good understanding of dental anatomy, occlusion, margins and contacts
- Experience working with intraoral scans and STL files
- Strong general computer and technical skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to identify problems rather than simply follow instructions
- Genuine interest in digital dentistry and implant technology
- Willingness to continuously learn new software, implant systems and digital workflows
- Ability to work collaboratively with dental technicians and clinicians
Particularly Desirable
Experience in any of the following would be a significant advantage:
- Implant crown and bridge design
- Implant scan body workflows
- Exocad Implant Module
- 3Shape Implant Studio
- CBCT/DICOM and STL alignment
- Surgical guide design
- Guided implant surgery workflows
- 3D printing
- Custom abutment design
- Immediate-load provisionals
- Multi-unit or full-arch implant restorations
- Digital smile design
- Familiarity with different implant libraries and component systems
We do not expect a junior candidate to already be an expert in all of these areas. What is important to us is a strong digital foundation, technical aptitude and a genuine desire to develop into advanced implant dentistry.
Professional & Regulatory Standards
The successful candidate will work within our laboratory quality and compliance procedures and will be expected to maintain accurate digital case and manufacturing records.
You will work alongside our experienced GDC-registered technicians and clinicians and will be expected to understand and follow applicable GDC, MHRA and UK medical device requirements.
GDC registration is desirable. Candidates who are appropriately qualified and working towards registration may also be considered.

- Competitive salary based on experience and technical ability
- Full-time permanent opportunity
- Modern digital dental laboratory environment
- Hands-on experience with CAD/CAM and 3D printing
- Opportunity to specialise in digital implant dentistry
- Exposure to surgical guide and advanced implant workflows
- Training and mentoring from experienced dental technicians and clinicians
- Opportunity to develop knowledge across different implant systems
- Career progression as the laboratory and implant division grow
