Children's Residential Support Worker Opportunities
Flagship Therapeutic Children's Residential Service
Location: Hoddesdon EN10 7HX | Salary: Competitive – £27,500 + depending on experience
Exclusively recruited by Heart Residential Support
Be Part of an Exciting New Children’s Residential Provision
We are recruiting on behalf of an ambitious and values-led children’s residential care provider as they continue the launch and development of several new provisions across Hertfordshire and North London.
This is an exciting opportunity to join the organisation at an important stage of its growth, becoming part of a new team from the outset and helping to shape a home that puts stability, consistency, safety and positive outcomes for young people at the heart of everything it does.
For the Flagship EN10 (Hoddesdon provision) we are currently recruiting:
- 14 Residential Support Workers
We are particularly interested in hearing from Residential Support Workers who already have experience within a children’s residential home environment and understand the responsibilities, boundaries and consistency required when supporting children and young people in residential care.
The Residential Support Worker Role
As a Residential Support Worker, you will play an important part in creating a safe, nurturing and structured home environment for the children and young people you support.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Building positive, professional and trusting relationships with children and young people
- Supporting young people with their emotional, social and behavioural development
- Providing consistent boundaries, routines and structure within the home
- Supporting young people with education, activities, appointments and everyday life skills
- Encouraging independence, confidence and positive decision-making
- Supporting young people during periods of emotional distress or challenging behaviour
- Completing accurate daily records, reports and relevant documentation
- Following safeguarding procedures and individual care plans
- Working effectively as part of a wider residential care team
- Participating in shift work, including evenings, weekends and sleep-ins where required
- Helping to create a warm, safe and genuinely homely environment
What We Are Looking For
For the Residential Support Worker positions, applicants should ideally have:
- Previous experience working within a children’s residential home
- Experience supporting children and young people with additional, emotional, behavioural or complex needs
- A good understanding of safeguarding and professional boundaries
- The ability to remain calm, consistent and supportive in challenging situations
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- A genuine commitment to improving outcomes for children and young people
- The ability to work effectively within a team and follow care plans, policies and procedures
- Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare / Children & Young People’s Services, or equivalent, is highly desirable
- Applicants already working towards their Level 3 are also encouraged to apply
- Flexibility to work a residential rota
Please note: Experience solely within semi-independent or supported accommodation services may not provide the level of children’s residential care experience required for these positions. Candidates with direct experience within registered children’s homes will be strongly preferred.
Why Join?
This is more than an opportunity to join an established rota. You will be joining a growing organisation during the development of its new services, with the opportunity to contribute to the culture and standards of the home from an early stage.
The organisation has ambitious plans for its children’s residential services and is focused on developing high-quality provisions with strong leadership, excellent practice and outstanding outcomes for young people.
For the right individuals, continued growth will also create opportunities for professional development and future career progression.
The vision is simple: to create a home where young people feel safe, valued, understood and capable of achieving more than they may have believed possible.
If you are an experienced children’s Residential Support Worker looking for your next opportunity and to become part of an exciting new provision – we would love to hear from you.
